Wilhelmina J. Hickenbottom of Astor passed on December 4, 2016, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, V. Philip Hickenbottom. Wilhelmina was born July 11, 1924, and grew up on a farm in Summerfield, Kansas. She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters; her sister Emma and brother Henry are still living. She graduated from Pawnee City High School, Nebraska, and started working at the Defense Plant in Omaha, Nebraska, working on Bombers B-26 and B-29. Next, she worked for Kraft Food Company. Later, she and her husband moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where they started their own business – an independent wholesaler. While living in Jacksonville, she worked also for U.S. Rubber Company. In 1968, they bought property in Astor, Florida, and in 1976 they retired in Astor. Wilhelmina loved boating and fishing, growing fruit trees, and collecting art objects for her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Astor and participated in many of the church ministries.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at The First Baptist Church in Astor with Reverend Terry Holland and Reverend Warren Whitmore officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The internment will follow the service at the Astor Park Cemetery, Astor Park, FL.
