Obituary of LARRY WARD
Larry Joe Ward, age 71, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 14, 2017, in Salt Springs, FL.
Larry was born on November 19, 1945 in Tallulah, LA, to parents William R. and Jewel Mae Ward.
Larry grew up in west Texas, attended Monahans High School, married, and began providing for his family by working in the oil field. He went on to obtain a welding certification and worked in New Mexico until he relocated with his extended family to Mary Esther, Florida. In Florida, Larry began a more than 20 year career in the automotive industry as a service adviser, an automotive technician and an auto body shop manager. Larry later moved to the Fort Lauderdale area, and then to Salt Springs where he became a certified bridge and highway inspector.
Larry’s loved ones will remember him as an avid fisherman who loved a good fish fry and get together which of course always included music. His dry sense of humor and quick wit kept everyone laughing. No one will forget his tendency to dive headfirst into new hobbies. They will all remember the building log splitter phase, the making sausage and beef jerky phase, the canning, and all the wood working projects.
Larry is survived by his sons, Stephen and his wife Tina, of Bossier City, LA; 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, 2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter, and James “Mike” and his wife Cheryl, of Murphy TX; 2 granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Ward, of Salt Springs, FL.
In order to celebrate Larry Ward’s life, a private memorial will be held Saturday, January 28 in Salt Springs, Florida.
He will be interred on Saturday, March 11 at 2 pm, at Cave Springs Cemetery in Marshall, TX, next to Margie, his wife of 29 years.
